Parish Celebrates the Solemnity of Pentecost with
international lunch
Parishioners at Corpus Christi celebrated the Solemnity of Pentecost today.  The Parish has a wonderfully rich and diverse community with parishioners from all corners of the earth, reflecting the global reach of the Catholic Church.  At all Masses, Fr Mervyn invited readers from the different countries to deliver the first and second readings in their own native languages, and the bidding prayers again were read in the numerous languages of those present.  In recognition of the universal language of the Church, Fr Mervyn read the Eucharistic Prayer in Latin.

After the 11am Mass, people from all of the Mass communities gathered in the Parish Hall for a bring and share lunch, featuring dishes from all over the world.  After Grace (in English!) led by Fr Mervyn, parishioners shared the feast, gathering in family and friendship groups around the tables throughout the hall.

The parish also took the opportunity to thank Freda Duckmanton who has recently retired from the role of Parish Secretary in which she has prepared the Parish Newsletter for 26 years.  Fr Mervyn spoke about her wonderful commitment to the Parish and then to loud applause, he presented Freda with a large pot of flowers to take pride of place in her garden.

In recognition of the Parish Live Simply Campaign and its concern for the environment, any rubbish was gathered in different recycling containers so that they could be separated and recycled.
