Parishioners support Salvation Army to send new toys to families whose children will otherwise go without.
A wonderful collection of carefully chosen gifts has gone from our parish to the Salvation Army appeal, ready to be distributed to local families where the children will have little or nothing for Christmas. Volunteers sort the presents into categories, then social workers and health visitors get them to families in need.
Major Tim Johnson, organiser of the appeal, said, “Many thanks to everyone at Corpus Christi and Our Lady of Lourdes for your kindness.  Thank you for helping to show the love of God to struggling families this Christmas.”
The collection was first undertaken last Christmas as part of the Parish’s Live Simply campaign to show solidarity to those in poverty.  The collection has now been embedded into parish life.
